Amanda De Blasis attended the University of Florida in Gainsville, Florida during her undergraduate studies where she majored in Health Science/Premed. She continued her studies at Nova Southeastern's Health Professions Division of Physician Assistant. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies and a Master of Medical Science degree. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). She is also certified with surgical recognition by the NCCPA. She has been licensed by the State of Florida of Health and holds a prescribing license. Amanda is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants (FAPA) and the Society of Emergency Medicine for Physician Assistants (SEMPA). |

Ansuya Balroop, MCMS, PA-C |

Ansuya Balroop, PA-C, originally from Trinidad, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Certificate in Biotechnology at Florida Atlantic University, in Boca Raton, FL. While applying for Physician Assistant School, Ansuya worked as a substitute teacher at Village Elementary in Sunrise, FL. She attended Physician Assistant School at Barry University in Miami Shores, FL, where she completed her Master of Clinical Medical Science degree as a Physician Assistant. While at Barry University, she volunteered at the Broward Partnership for the Homeless, Inc and is presently a volunteer with Maha Helping Hands of South Florida, Inc. (a non-profit organization). She is an active member of her temple and is currently head of the health committee for the Women’s group. She is a professional Indian classical dancer and enjoys swimming, cooking and spending time with friends and family. Ansuya is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and licensed by Florida Department of Health. She is a fellow member of Florida Academy of Physician Assistants (FAPA) and American Association of Physician Assistants (AAPA). |

Leah Lovely is a native to Los Angeles, CA and received her Bachelor of Science degree at Loyola Marymount University. After completing her undergraduate studies, she became certified as an Emergency Medical Technician-I. She then moved to Florida and completed her Physician Assistant training at Barry University School of Graduate Medical Sciences and received a Masters of Clinical Medical Science. During school, she was the Executive Treasurer of the Barry University PA Student Association (BUPASA) and also volunteered her time to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami. Leah is Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and carries a Florida License. She is a Fellow member of the American Association of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants (FAPA). Some of Leah’s interests include traveling, snowboarding, yoga, volleyball, music, and spending time with family and friends. |

In general, PAs are authorized to perform any duties delegated to them by their supervising urologist that they feel comfortable performing. The job description for PAs in Urology includes, but is not limited to: 1. General duties: Performing complete evaluations on patients of all ages (pediatric through geriatric). Ordering and interpreting appropriate lab, x-ray, and special studies. Establishing a working diagnosis based upon acquired data and developing a treatment plan for urological conditions in accordance with current urology practice and in conjunction with the urologist. Implement therapeutic intervention and provide appropriate follow-up care. Exercise judgment on conditions requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising urologist or other healthcare professionals. 2. Hospital duties: Perform complete pre-operative H & Ps on all surgical patients, identifying and alerting the surgeon to any disqualifying conditions that present. First Assist in all surgical procedures to include nephrectomies, nephrostomies, radical prostatectomies, cystectomies, orchiectomies, penile prosthetic implantations, urological trauma procedures, transurethal procedures, artificial urethral sphincter implantations, stent procedures, and various other urological procedures as they present. Conduct hospital rounds on a daily basis of all ward and ICU patients. Evaluate care and order appropriate labs, special studies, IVs, diet, and therapeutic interventions required. In conjunction with the surgeon, formulate and implement discharge planning and clinical follow-up, and dictate discharge summaries. Evaluate and provide appropriate intervention (in conjunction with supervising surgeon) for ER and nursing home patients consulted for urological conditions. Be able to identify need and catheterize patients with appropriate catheters for their condition. 3. Office duties: See new and follow-up patients and provide intervention that is problem oriented for their urological conditions. Present patients, when appropriate, to the supervising surgeon and assist in care, treatment, and follow-up as needed. Perform and/or assist in office procedures to include transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) volume studies, urodynamics, cystoscopies, post-void residual (PVRs) evals, difficult catheterizations, post-op voiding trails, and other necessary procedures. Order and interpret lab, x-ray, special studies, and clinical procedures, such as injections, and provide appropriate care and follow-up. Provide phone consultation for patient concerns and prescription refills. Perform on-call duties for urology. 4. Evaluate, screen and counsel patients on health maintenance and promote utilization of community resources. Design, conduct, and/or participate in research studies, manage databases, and perform quality assurance. |
